USED FUTURE IS A YOUNG KOREAN BRAND FOUNDED IN 2009 BY LEE DONG IN, THEN AGED 26. SUPPORTED BY THE KOREA FASHION ASSOCIATION, THE DESIGNER HAS ALREADY BECOME A TALENT TO WATCH.
This urban, whimsical and funky label (available in Korea, but also in France and Belgium), turns vintage clothes into neo-retro pieces that look casual, and laid-back. the message is clear: "Man, your clothes are timeless!" For his second collection (S/S 11), Don(Dong In, in short) took inspriation from the movie "Deep End", which is regarded as the best movie by Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski. With 1970s London as a backdrop, the film perfectly sums up the essential themes in the young Asian designer's aesthetic, namely kitsch and popular culture. The highlights of this new wardrobe are jackets, raincoats and cropped trenchcoats; bright colours like lemon yellow, apricot and apple green mix with beige or black. Plain or houndtooth bermuda shorts, large printed T-shirts and flashy sunglasses, Seoul is London.
Starting with our Basement issue, which focuses on the depths of creativity.
